Essence is a professional, all-female dance company founded in 2005 by dancer, choreographer and artistic director, Gigi Torres. Having undergone a difficult period in her life, Gigi found strength in friends who shared her passion and her belief in the power of expression through dance and her desire to inspire others to pursue their dreams. The group Essence was created to provide a talented group of women opportunities to inspire and share pieces of themselves and their lives with the world on the stage. As individually gifted and talented artists, the ladies of Essence pursue their individual goals in the entertainment industry while remembering the sisterhood of support, love, and friendship that inspired the creation of Essence. The Essence motto, “Just Be & Live”, was adopted to encourage others to live the life they choose to the fullest.

Mission: The Essence Mission is to inspire people, no matter their color, gender, and age, to go ahead and pursue what they love to do–in dance or any other goal –  to chase their dreams and aspirations with no fear, with the vision of their success and happiness.
